High Risk Cold Tablets
Once, Agang was addicted to cold tablets containing methorphan by taking as many as 6 tablets to be “high” and ended up with a
damaged liver… Paracetamol is a very common over-the-counter (OTC) medicine for relieving fever and mild pain. However, the
maximum daily dosage of 8,000 mg (for kids, 10-15 mg/kg body weight) should never be exceeded; neither should it ever be taken
in conjunction with any alcoholic drinks, otherwise, there may well be liver dysfunction and/or kidney failure, low platelet counts,
asthma, etc., or even death. As many proprietary pain killers often contain paracetamol, care should also be taken to note any excessive
combined amounts of paracetamol when different types of OTC medications are taken together: a common error. In the year 2000, As
the old OTC drug Contac Cold (phenylpropanolamine (PPA)) had allergies, irregular heart beats, high blood pressures, acute kidney
failures or even strokes, it was deemed "unsafe" by the USFDA; but the new Contac Cold had pseudoephedrine (PSE), a decongestant
for shrinking nasal dilated blood vessels of a stuffy nose, is actually addictive. Never take cold tablets lightly!
