DEHP, a colourless viscous liquid, has good plasticizing properties and used illegally as clouding (emulsifying) agent for 30 years in
Taiwan: very serious, as it is 20 times more toxic than melamine, impairing male reproductive systems, rendering female precocious
puberty. In China,

-agonists (asthma medication) are fed to pigs to promote lean meat synthesis but residues in pork may cause side
effects. The Joint Food Agriculture Organization / WHO Expert Committee on Food Additives allocates the ADI (acceptable daily intake):
the amount (per body weight) that can be ingested daily over a lifetime without appreciable health risk. Other criteria is the GRAS:
Generally recognized as safe. As dioxins are present in chicken feeds; sudan 1 (carcinogenic), used in pepper powder, melachite green,
used as a fresh fish antiseptic, formaldehyde, for flour, manufacturers claim “green” products. However, it is not easy to do without
food additives entirely. Better to study the food label; if in doubt, go to the local MOH website to check. Regarding any unusual food
appearance, taste, colour, etc., find out why; suspect any food with drastic reductions!
