Shining Light in the Path of Learning for Special Children: Boai School of the Suzhou Industrial
Park Zone: Utilization of the Crossbar Code for Healing & Education
The Boai School is a school for special children in the Suzhou Industrial Park Zone. Those children, who are mostly mentally retarded
or with autism or cerebral palsies, had great problems with pinyin for Chinese characters: yet, this is a problem that must be solved
at all costs, lest they would be unable to recognize Chinese characters. According to Liang Bing, the crossbar code that has been
invented by a Hong Kong entrepreneur, Mr. Zhou Zhongji, would overcome that problem effectively: by converting cumbersome
Chinese characters to 10 different kinds of Chinese character strokes named 0 to 9, all those complicated characters would now
in simple numbers that even those children with learning difficulties could be able to grasp readily. Fortunately, from 2011 to 2015,
their years of very hard work, being effectively facilitated by the novel crossbar code, has already paid dividends. One cerebral palsy
child had successful learning through crossbar code and managed to enter a normal school and can even play the piano well. As
the Crossbar Code Information Digital Learning Priority Prototype Trial Demonstration School, the Boai School has done an excellent
show case of the usefulness of the crossbar code application. Thanks be to Mr Zhou!
