ln
the
last
decade,
the
World
Health
Organization (WHO)
has
energetically encouraged research
work
on
Chinese medicinal
herbs,
particularly
in iearch for
some
effective anti-cancer
herbs.
Chinese
medicinal herbs
are
a
great
treasure-house
to
be
explored.
They
have been
traditionally
used by herbists in the
lo.ng
hiitory
of
China. These
herbists
have
accumulated
practical
expeiiences
in
abundance. The
polysacharride peptiQe
IPSP)
rebearch
group
of
the
Hong
Kong University,headed
by
Dr.
llable
Yang Mei--po,'has
been
carrying
out
a
series of experimentation on
one-Chinese
herb, the mushroom "Yun
zhi",
the
series
including
bio-chemical
analyses,
purification process
in
its
preparation, and
its
ancillary clinical
effects
on the treatment of cancer.
Results are
promising
and encouraging.
