to prevent cancer
?''
is
a big
question that everybody
is concerned
about. Eventhough research
on
cancer
has
been deepening, continuously
there
is
new discovery on the cause
of
cancer.
But
why people would get can-
cer
?
The answer
is
still not completely
clear.
What
is
commonly acknowledged
is
that
when
the
immune ability
i.e.
proper vital energy
of
the body
is
weak
one
would
easily get cancer.
This
is
what is called "When the proper vital
energy is maintained internally,
the
im-
proper elements cannot step in",
and
"When the improper elements gather
inside, one's vital energy would neces-
sarily weaken."
Therelore,
one should
always maintain the proper vital energy
of
the body and do not
let
the cancer
cells
show their
force. That
is
the only
approach
to
prevent cancer.
The
"proper vital energy"
is
atfected
by
vari-
ous internal
&
external factors.
All
those
things that
can
facilitate the
reinforce-
ment
of
this energy such as
moderat-
ing
one's spirit,
maintaining
the
health
of
the
body, nurturing one's body
by
food and
treating
illnesses by medica-
tion, are beneficial in preventing can-
cer.
ln
the opposite manner,
all
those
factors
that
reduce this vital energy
such
as environmental
pollution,
smoking
and excessive alcohol consumption,
bad
habits in eating,
drinking,
& life
style
are
enough
to draw cancer easily
&
should not be over-looked.

one has already contracted
a
disease
it is
necessary
to
treat
it in
time.
The principle guideline
of
treatment
is
to
reinforce "the proper energy" and
to
dispel "the
ill
elements"
(i.e.
to
kill
the
cancer cells) simultaneously. However,
in
dispelling the
ill
elements one should
be
careful
not
to
"harm
the
proper en-
ergy". Regarding the "exorcism of
ill

ements"
both
Western
&
Chinese medi-
cine have a lot of good formulae. How-
ever, in "reinforcing
the
proper energy,
Chinese medicine
has
relatively
more
methods. Therefore,
in
treating cancer,
if
we could simultaneously apply
both
Western &
Chinese approaches,
for
sure
the two medical traditions
would
enhance each other and the efficacy
would
