far, one
of
the
most
common causes
of
cardio- and
cerebro-vascular
diseases
such
as
ischemic
heart disease
and stroke
is an
occlusion
of

vessel by
the
clot. This is
a
chronic
pathologic
process
due
to
increase
viscosity of the
blood.
Restriction
in
intake of
foods
containing
high
choles-
terol and
saturated
fat-usually
the
animal
food, is
thus
recommended
as the
general
preventive measures
against
this type of
atherosclerotic
vascular diseases.
ln
addition,
a
variety of
vegetable and plant
foods,
for
instances,
garlic,
onion, pepper,
kelp and tea are
all
believed helpful
to
reduce
blood cholesterol
level
and
vis-
cosity and,
therefore, useful to
prevent
the
clot
formation.
