Everybody's
blood
contains
normal amount of
glucose,
this
is
what we
called
blood sugar.
The
range
of
blood
sugar level
of
a
healthy
person
is
between
80
to
120m9
%.
A
blood
sugar
level higher than 200m9
%o
is
regarded
as
hyperglycemic.
lf
hyperglycemic were
associated
with
other
symptoms
such
as
thirst, hunger, frequent urination
and
loss
of
weight,
it
can
basi-
cally
be
diagnosed
as diabetes mellitus. However, glucose toler-
ance
test
is
recommended
for
confirmation.
Normally,
diabetics
are
hyperglycemic. Hypoglycemic
re-
actions
are likely
to
occur
when
an
elderly
patient
even
with
diabetes mellitus under control
has
an
inadvertently overdose
of
insulin injection
or
extra
amount
of
exercise. Slight
hypoglycemic
reactions included palpitations, sweating,
and
blackout.
More
seriously, it may
result
in
convulsions
and coma.
We
would
like to
suggest some
preventive
measures
of
hypoglycemic reactions
on
diabetics.
