The Chinese
tradition
of
using
ants as
tonic
food
has been in
practice
for
more than three
thousand years.
Relatively detailed
examinations
were
conducted
by Li
Shi-zhen,
a
distinguished
pharmacologist
in
the Ming
dynasty.
ln
his
S2-volume
Compen-
dium
of
Materia
Medica,
he proved
that
ants
can
not
only
be
regarded
as
precious
food,
but
can also
be
used
to
cure
phleg-
monous
cellulitis. Scientific
analysis
proved
that ants
contained
more
than
50% of
protein, abundant
vitamins, and trace
elements.
Exploring the medical usage
of
ants becomes
a
promising
busi-
ness.
