Diabetics
today start to pay more attention on
the
pathologic
change
in
eyes.

lJnited State Diabetes
Mellitus
(DM)
is
regarded
as
a-
majoi
factor
to
the
loss
of
sight.
Diabetic
neuropathy,
disturbaices
of
peripheral
nerves,
notably
terminal
paresthesia,
its
diagnostic and
therapeutic
research
is
in
progress in recent
years.
Some diabetics may
not
treat their
systemic disease thoroughly
and regularly
at
clinics
on
a
regular basis
but
visit their
doctors
intermfttently. DM affects the len, hitreous body and retina,
caus-
ing
cutaract,
bleeding,
even detached retina etc. Such serious
dia-
betic
ophalmopathy may have been overlooked in
the early
sta_ge
when treatment being
more
effective.
lt
is
essential
for
all
DM
patients
to have wide and deeper knowledge
of
the
illness to
bring
attention
to
their doctors sooner.
