Most patients
with
non-insulin-dependent diabetes
mellitus
(NIDDM)
need
to
use the oral hypoglycemic
agents (OHA)
to
re-
duce
the
hyperglycemia
combined with diet restriction.
Therefore
OHA
are important
measure
for
diabetes
control.
There
are
two
kinds
of
OHA
commonly
used, one is
Sulfonylureas including
D860
Chlorpropamide, Glyburide,
Minidiab, Dimalon
and
Glyquidone
etc.
The
other one
is
biguanides:
metformin
and
phenformin,
The
sulfonylureas are
used
for
the
patients that diet
restriction
alone
is
not
satisfactory.
The
biguanides
are
first
choice
for
overweight
NIDDM
patients.
The
treatment of
OHA
for
diabetic
patients
should
be
under
the
guide
of
physician
so as
to
control the
abnormal
metabolism and
to
prevent the
various
diabetic complications.
