Dreams: Another Mental Realm of Humans
All people have various dreams, from nightmares to sweet dreams: during sleep, we continue to work on all the day-time problems:
personal or otherwise. According to a German neurologist Wilbrand, our dreams may enhance the brain function. Despite Freud’s
classical dream analysis, we are unsure if dreams could forecast our future except aspects of disease prevention. Dreams differs from
reality; are easily forgotten and may occasionally be in black & white and, if interrupted, may lead to illusion. Dreams are intriguing:
men usually dream about men; even the blind may dream what they perceive other than visualization; we may dream about forgotten
strangers, our deprived desires, being paralyzed and even affected by stimulation, e.g., outside sounds at night. Prof Deirdre Barrett of
Harvard University opines that we may control our dreams: by a visual review of a topic before sleeping; to review our dream on waking
up: helps to think “out of the box” and enhance vivid visualization contributing to, e.g., artistic design. For children with frequent
nightmares, drawing out the “monster” helps: even those with post-traumatic stress disorder would benefit.
